Although the weather wasn't great decided to get out and about and have a go with the 8mm Samyang. First thing that struck me was how impossible it was to use the viewfinder to focus with - everything looks in focus all the time! Indeed initially I thought there was a fault with the lens focusing mechanism as going from 0.3m to infinity seem to make no perceptible difference. However, switching to 'live view' (10x magnification) proved that it was indeed working fine. Anyway, bit of a tricky lens to get use to and does that front element feel exposed - managed to get a big fingerprint on it first outing! Thing is, on a 'normal' lens it would have little or no effect unless you really were looking for it, but on this lens I have a totally blurred easily visible area on the pictures - until I cleaned the smudge off. Created a gallery section called Fish Eye Fun where I'll put some of the results of each outing - though nothing too exciting or wonderful at the moment, just the first attempts with this lens.
Born in 1956 (so getting on a bit now) I'm married and have two wonderful children we all live in Devon in the South West of England - on the Cornish border.
