So now the proud owner of a Canon 40D, which has resolved the integration problem with the Multiblitz Triggerhappy wireless remote/trigger - so that's great. What isn't so great is the feeling that the older 10D is a better camera from the perspective of build quality! Don't get me wrong the 40D is nice but the buttons and controls don't have the quality feel that the 10D has, also, oh that shutter/mirror noise - loud "clack, clack" compared to the 10D's very tame "snick, snick". Now most of the reviews I've read say the 40D is much quieter than the 20/30D's that went before, but compared to the 10D I find it embarrassingly loud! Initially I though this was a fault, but a bit of research and comparison to some other 40D's proved this not to be the case - well it is what it is, so I'll just have to get used to it ;-)
Hopefully, I'll get out this weekend and put it through its paces and get to know it a bit better. Now as I felt the 10D had more functions than I ever really needed, you can perhaps imagine how I feel with the 40D!
Will need to look out for a battery grip and a new strap for it. It did come with the original strap, which is still packed and never used - best thing for it IMO, always too thin and too short for serious use.
Born in 1956 (so getting on a bit now) I'm married and have two wonderful children we all live in Devon in the South West of England - on the Cornish border.
