I can't believe its nearly three months since I last made an entry here, but once again nothing really exciting to post about - though some will say that that's par for the course! I have however done quite a bit of work on the Multiblitz page, within the Photography section.
Also spent a few days in Glastonbury which I haven't been to for a number of years - it always used to be a bit 'hippy central' but now I find it quite depressing, just walking around the streets you end up smelling of Patchouli oil! Popped in to a café for a diet Coke, but they only sold organic cola I kid you not! Prayer rooms, candle shops, crystals, Tarot readers (seemingly on every corner) not really top of my list of places to visit anymore.
As a longterm fan of Multiblitz lighting, it is perhaps time I created a page dedicated to their equipment - at least the products that I've used over the years. Generally Multiblitz don't get much 'net bandwidth' (is that the right terminology?) as a Google search (other search engine are available) won't return much information.
So I've created a page here (nothing really to see yet) within which I'll detail my 'history' with this marque, which has been going for over 60 years, not me, the brand - I've only beeen using them for nearly 30 years.
One very useful resource is the Multiblitz.de download page (see my Links Page for, well a link of course). The 1st tab (it's all in German) is for the current catalogue, the 2nd tab for current instruction manuals, the 3rd for old manuals & the last one for system accessories.
Was using the flash equipment earlier in the week, using the Multiblitz Trigger Happy remote when I noticed the little dot (on the units display) which tells you it is on, but in standby mode had disappeared! Not too important I thought, but over the next few days it turned out to be a real pain. So I phone the Dealer/Importer of Multiblitz equipment who I bought it from - "send it back" they said, so I did and by return of post I've got a new one with a working 'dot' - so many thanks to MrCad of Croydon for their fast & efficient service.
Well newish, going to look for a Canon 30 or 40D over the coming weeks as although the 10D has served me well and could perhaps go on doing so, I've decided it's time for a change. The main prompt for this is that it has never worked with the Multiblitz remote trigger (Triggerhappy) that I bought some months ago and I would like to use this as it not only triggers the flash heads but allows me to adjust them from the camera. At the moment it is relegated to being just a glorified remote control device and I use a second cheap Chinese trigger unit on the camera!
Saturday, the courier dropped off a 70cm beauty dish. Been looking for one of these for awhile, but didn't want to spend the usual premium. Also considering getting a portable set-up that isn't Multiblitz - probably with the Bowens 'S' fit mount, so wanted a universal fit one, the kind that uses a bolt on speedring adapter. Anyway, the only immediate disadvantage is there would appear to be two distinct areas of illumination, about 1/2 a stop between the outer edge and the center portion. This can be seen on larger group pictures but isn't an issue for head & shoulder portraits. Easy solution was to use the provided 'sock' (or shower-cap as it's sometimes called) which diffuses the light, and evens out this issue and with no loss of output. The dish also came with a thirty degree honeycomb grid, but not put that through its paces yet.
Born in 1956 (so getting on a bit now) I'm married and have two wonderful children we all live in Devon in the South West of England - on the Cornish border.
